  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp pav bhaji masala
  • ΒΌ tsp garam masala
  • 3 tomatoes chopped finely
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp red chilli sauce (skip if making for kids)
  • 250 gms paneer chopped into small cubes
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander chopped
  • 6 hot dog buns
  • 2 tbsp sliced jalapenos (optional)
  • 2 tbsp sliced burger gherkins (optional)
  • Mayonnaise as required ( use vegan mayonnaise for vegan option)
  • Mustard sauce as required
  • butter to toast the buns

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large deep pan or kadhai on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  • Add chopped onion and saute until they are light golden. Add chopped chillies, ginger and garlic and saute for a few more minutes.
  • Add chopped peppers and saute for 3-4 minutes.
  • Next, add chopped tomatoes with salt to taste. Let the tomatoes cook until they are soft and mushy.
  • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and pav bhaji masala. Mix everything together and cook on medium heat until oil starts oozing from the sides.
  • Add paneer, ketchup and red chilli sauce and mix everything nicely. After 2-3 minutes add garam masala. Finish with chopped fresh coriander and turn off the heat.
  • Take the hot dog buns, make a horizontal slit in the center without going all the way through. Carefully fill the paneer stuffing in it. Repeat with all buns.
  • Next, melt some butter in a large flat pan over medium heat. Gently toast the stuffed buns from both sides. Toast all the buns from both sides until lightly charred.
  • Serve immediately with a squeeze of mayonnaise and mustard sauce. If you like you can top the buns with sliced jalapenos and pickled gherkins.
  • Enjoy!!
