‘Aam Panna’ is famed as ‘heat beater’ during summer months in India. It is a tangy re hydration drink which comes with an impressive number of health benefits. It quenches thirst and prevents the excessive loss of necessary salts and iron during summer due to excessive sweating. Here are some of the benefits of aam panna:
- Aam Panna is rich in several nutrients like Vitamin B1 and B2 , niacin and Vitamin C.
- Aam panna is made of green mangoes which are rich in pectin. It cures ailments like diarrhea and gastroenteritis
- Its great for the eyes as it is rich in vitamin A.
Here is the recipe for this refreshing, tangy and healthy drink which will keep you away from store bought sugary drinks.

Ingredients:
- Raw Mangoes: 2-3 medium sized, approx 500gms
- sugar: 1 cup ( less if your mangoes are not very sour)
- black salt: 1 teaspoon
- roasted cumin powder: 1 tbsp
- Black Pepper: 1/2 tsp
- fresh mint leaves: 8-10 numbers and few for garnishing
- water: 4 cups
- Ice cubes: few
Method:
- Wash and peel the raw mangoes. Discard the seed. Cut slices of mango and cook in a pressure cooker with 2-3 cups of water for 2 whistles or cook in a pan of boiling water until soft.
- Once the steam is released, strain the mangoes and let them cool down a little bit.
- Blend it in a mixer with sugar, spices and mint leaves
- Taste and adjust the seasoning
- Aam Panna concentrate is ready. It can be stored in fridge covered for about 2 weeks .
- To serve, add 1/4 cup of concentrate in a tall glass, top with ice cubes and fill the glass with cold water . Stir to mix.
- Serve chilled garnished with mint leaves .
